The Delhi Rouse Avenue Court extended Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s remand in a money laundering case till April 18. AAP leader Sanjay Singh also appeared in Court in connection with court proceedings.

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja extended Sisodia's judicial custody after he was produced before the court on the expiry of the judicial custody granted earlier. Sisodia has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case registered in connection with the scrapped Delhi liquor policy.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also been remanded in the case. Sanjay Singh, a co-accused who was recently granted bail by the Supreme Court in the case, also appeared before the court for the proceedings on Saturday.

Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26, 2023, for his alleged role in the scam. The ED arrested Sisodia in a money-laundering case stemming from the CBI FIR on March 9, 2023.

The CBI as well as the ED have alleged that irregularities were committed while modifying the Delhi excise policy, undue favours were extended to licence holders, licence fee was waived or reduced and licences were extended without the competent authority's approval.

Sisodia wrote a letter from the Tihar jail on Friday and said, “Will meet you soon outside. The British rulers also had the arrogance of power and sent people to jail in false cases." Sisodia said Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, who spent many years in prison, were his inspiration.
