In a blistering attack on the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi termed the electoral bond scheme as the “world’s biggest scam”.

Addressing an election rally in Hyderabad, Rahul said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has kept “his people” in the election commission.

The Supreme Court, in a crucial ruling in February, had struck down the electoral bond scheme and directed the State Bank of India to hand over all details of the donations to the political parties to the Election Commission.

In his address, Rahul raked up the farmers’ issues and alleged that nearly 30 farmers are committing suicides in India every day.

“PM Modi has waived loans to the tune of Rs 16 lakh crore of the rich, while not even one rupee of farmers' loans was waived,” said the Congress leader.

Rahul said the Congress manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections reflects the voice of the people of India and it that the party prepared it after listening to millions of people.

Highlighting the five guarantees that the party has promised in its manifesto, Rahul said: "When we gave you guarantees, we called them the guarantees of the Congress Party but in reality, they were the guarantees of the people. When we talked about Rs 500 cylinder, 200 units of free electricity, Greh Lakshmi, and free bus travel, we heard the voice of the people and prepared these guarantees.”

The Congress leader noted that, if voted to power, the Congress will bring in an apprenticeship law in which every youth in India will be guaranteed a one-year apprenticeship. “This will be applicable in the public sector, private, education and all sectors,” he said.

Mentioning the ‘Nari Nya Law’ in the manifesto, Rahul said this would be a revolutionary step which would change the face of the whole country.

“Just imagine, the Congress Party government is going to give at least Rs 1 lakh directly to the bank account of the poorest families in India. This means that there will not be a single-family in India whose income will not be Rs 1 lakh per year," he said.
