Election Commission on Friday issued notice against Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi based on a complaint from the Bharatiya Janata Party. The poll body has reportedly asked the AAP leader to respond by Monday afternoon. The notice comes a day after Atishi and other AAP leaders met Delhi’s chief election officer.

The Election Commission has reportedly sent notice to Atishi based on BJP’s complaint that the AAP leader has violated the model code of conduct and making unsubstantiated allegations against the BJP.

On Thursday, after meeting Delhi’s chief election officer, Atishi told presspersons, “The BJP has placed many objectionable hoardings across Delhi, at some places they have even used the photo of CM Arvind Kejriwal. We filed a complaint against this six days ago, but, surprisingly no action has been taken. It's worrying as it raises questions over the level playing field for Lok Sabha elections.” Atishi said they would raise the issue with the Election Commission if the Delhi CEO fails to take action.

However, she said, “Even the ECI doesn't give time to meet the opposition leaders. This Lok Sabha elections are becoming historic for all the sad reasons.”
