The Delhi High Court will hear a petition by Kejriwal challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money-laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. The petition seeking Kejriwal's immediate release is listed for hearing before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma at 10.30 am.

According to the petition filed by the Chief Minister, the remand order granting the custody of Kejriwal to the ED was illegal. Though the chief minister had moved the High Court last week with his petition, his request for an urgent hearing was turned down as the high court was closed for Holi.

Kejriwal is currently in ED's custody till March 28 "for his detailed and sustained interrogation".

He had earlier filed a petition for quashing and setting aside all proceedings, including summonses, issued against him. Kejriwal had said he is a "vocal critic" of the ruling BJP at the Centre, he is an opposition leader and a partner in the INDIA bloc, and the ED, which is under the Union government's control, has been "weaponised".

The case pertains to the alleged corruption and money laundering in formulating and executing the Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22 which was later scrapped. Top AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are in judicial custody in the case.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal is likely to address the media on Wednesday afternoon.

Complaint against protest call

A complaint has been made to the acting Chief Justice of Delhi HC against the call for protest in Delhi Courts by the legal cell of Aam Aadmi Party.

A letter by the lawyer read, "Using court premises as a battleground for political parties is a gross misconduct of professional ethics and in violation of rules of Bar Council of India and also volition of the directions of the Supreme Court judgements."

The legal cell of the Aam Aadmi Party has called for a protest in the Delhi Courts at 12.30 pm on Wednesday against the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the Liquor Excise Policy case.
