Congress releases sixth list of candidates; Prahlad Gunjal to contest from Kota

The Congress party on Monday announced its sixth list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections with new joinee Prahlad Gunjal being fielded from Kota.

Gunjal, a close aide of former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, joined the Congress on Thursday. He was an MLA from Kota twice but lost the last assembly elections. He will face Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in the parliament polls.

Among the other seats in Rajasthan, the party has fielded Ramchandra Choudhary from Ajmer, Sudarshan Rawat from Rajsamand and Damodar Gurjar from Bhilwara.

Rajasthan will vote in two faces on April 19 and April 26.

In Tamil Nadu, C. Robert Bruce will contest on a Congress ticket from the Tirunelveli constituency. Tharahai Cuthbert will contest the by-election from the Vilavancode constituency.

The grand old party on Sunday released its fifth list of candidates, fielding Pratap Singh Khachariyawas from Jaipur, replacing Sunil Sharma as announced earlier.
