Kangana Ranaut, Naveen Jindal, ex-judge Abhijeet Gangopadhyay in BJP's latest candidates list

Maneka Gandhi fielded from Sultanpur; Jitin Prasada replaces Varun Gandhi in Pilibhit

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday announced candidates for 111 more Lok Sabha seats, with new joinee Naveen Jindal and actor Kangana Ranaut finding place in the new list.

Kangana will contest her first election from Mandi in her home state Himachal Pradesh while Jindal has been fielded from Kurukshetra.

Actor Arun Govil, who played Ram in popular TV serial Ramayan, has been fielded from Meerut Lok Sabha seat. Former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijeet Gangopadhyay, who joined the BJP after taking voluntary retirement, will contest from West Bengal's Tamluk.

The party has fielded former union minister Maneka Gandhi from Sultanpur while her son Varun Gandhi was replaced by Uttar Pradesh minister Jitin Prasada in Pilibhit.

Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan will contest from Sambalpur and BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra from Puri. Party’s Kerala unit president K. Surendran will take on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad constituency.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren's sister-in-law Sita Soren, who joined the BJP earlier this week, will fight from Dumka.

Meanwhile, Union minister Ashwini Choubey and former Union minister Anant Kumar Hegde have been dropped from Buxar (Bihar) and Uttara Kannada constituencies, respectively. The party has also dropped sitting MP and Union Minister V.K. Singh and fielded Atul Garg from Ghaziabad.

In Bihar, the BJP has announced candidates for all the 17 seats it is contesting. The party dropped three sitting MPs including Choubey.

The party announced candidates for 18 of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha, while dropping four sitting MPs from the list. The nominees for Cuttack, Jajpur and Kandhamal Lok Sabha constituencies are yet to be named by the party.
