The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Bengaluru granted the city police three-day custody of the accused held in connection with raising pro-Pakistan slogans after the Rajya Sabha polls recently. The accused were arrested on Monday night based on a Forensic Science Laboratory report from government-run lab.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru Central Division said the accused were arrested based on the FSL report, available witnesses and evidence. According to police, one of the accused hails from RT Nagar in Bengaluru, the second one from Byadagi in Haveri district and the third accused is from Delhi. The accused from Byadagi is said to be a chilli merchant, PTI reported.

Supporters of Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain allegedly shouted pro-Pakistan slogans in the corridors of ‘Vidhana Soudha’ after his victory in the Rajya Sabha elections, an incident which triggered a political slugfest between the ruling Congress and BJP. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had ordered an investigation by a government-run FSL to check the veracity of the allegations.

The Karnataka BJP, citing an investigation report of a private forensic science laboratory claimed "Pakistan zindabad" slogan was indeed shouted after the victory of a Congress candidate in the recently held Rajya Sabha elections on Monday. However, the Karnataka government refused to accept the report findings saying it was prepared by a private lab, in favour of the BJP.

Home Minister G. Parameshwara said the FSL report does not say who raised the slogans. "They have just said that it has been confirmed and there is no intervention of any kind, it is a straightforward continuous video. They have examined and confirmed that there was shouting like 'Pakistan Zindabad' and based on that we have identified three persons and arrested them." On asked why the report isn't being made public, Parameshwara said, "We did not want to. We waited one or two days because other reports had to come. Based on the FSL report, we have arrested three people."
