West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee said the expulsion of party MP Mahua Moitra from Parliament was unfortunate and it was a sad day for Indian democracy.
Banerjee said, “It is a sad day for Indian parliamentary democracy. I am telling you that Mahua (Moitra) is a victim of the circumstances. I strongly condemn it. Our party will fight along with the INDIA alliance. It is unfortunate for the democracy." The West Bengal chief minister said the party MP was not given a chance to explain her stand. Banerjee said the party stands with Moitra.
Calling the action vendetta politics of BJP, Banerjee said Mahua Moitra will win this battle. “This is vendetta politics of BJP. They killed democracy, it is injustice. Mahua will win the battle. The people will give justice. They (BJP) will be defeated in the next election," ANI reported quoting the chief minister.
