A man allegedly groped at least four women at a crowded mall in Bengaluru. An elderly man has been detained following a video an eyewitness uploaded on social media. The incident took place in Lulu Mall at Rajajinagar.
According to the man who shot the video, the incident occurred between 6 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. He said the man touched four to five women inappropriately before being caught on camera. At the time, the whistleblower was with his family at the mall.
The video showed him approaching the woman from behind and touching her inappropriately even as she remained oblivious to the act. According to reports, the video showed that after misbehaving deliberately, he moved to another place. It was the whistleblower's sister who pointed out that the man in question was behaving suspiciously.
The city police have taken note of the incident and are conducting a probe. The whistleblower approached the mall security and reported the incident. But, the man wasn't found. He also approached the mall management team and apprised them of the situation.
An FIR (First Information Report) has been registered at the Magadi Road police station under IPC Section 354 (assault of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty).
