A BJP leader in Telangana has demanded that the public be briefed regularly about the health condition of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Marri Shashidhar Reddy slammed the “veil of secrecy” about Rao’s death, two days after the chief minister’s son, K.T. Rama Rao revealed that his father has secondary (bacterial) infection of the lungs.
People of Telangana have the right to be properly briefed about CM’s health, Reddy said in a letter to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday. He also noted that Rao has not been seen in public over the past couple of weeks.
Whenever a person holding high public office falls sick, the hospital authorities and government officials put out regular health bulletins, the BJP leader said, adding that such a practice is not seen in the chief minister’s case.
In his letter to the governor, Reddy also claimed that many people have expressed concern over the condition of Rao especially in the wake of rumours that pressure is being exerted on him by his immediate family members to anoint his son as the chief minister.
On Friday, Rama Rao, CM’s son and BRS working president, said his father was down with viral fever and has got secondary (bacterial) infection of the lungs.
"He (CM KCR) also unfortunately had a secondary infection, a bacterial infection. So, it is taking longer than usual. His viral subsided and then the bacterial started. He has some infection in the chest. He should be out in a day or two," Rama Rao had said.
