A Delhi court on Thursday extended the police custody of Aftab Amin Poonawala, the accused in the murder of his live-in partner Shraddha Walker, by five days. The court also permitted the police's plea for a lie detector test for the accused.

The order came amid high drama with a section of lawyers staging protest against Aftab on the court premises.

Earlier, the accused was produced before the court through video conferencing as he reportedly faced threat from miscreants and religious groups.

The 28-year-old man is accused of strangling Shraddha to death, chopping her body into over 35 pieces and dumping them in different parts of a forest area in South Delhi.

The murder reportedly took place on May 18, but the chilling details of the crime were revealed after Aftab was arrested on Monday and interrogated by Delhi Police.
