Just days after Delhi and neighbouring areas felt tremors last week, an earthquake of magnitude 4.1 was reported from Amritsar in Punjab on Monday morning.
According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake occurred at around 3:42 am at a depth of 120 km. "Earthquake of Magnitude:4.1, Occurred on 14-11-2022, 03:42:27 IST, Lat: 31.95 & Long: 73.38, Depth: 120 Km, Location: 145km WNW of Amritsar, Punjab, India," the centre tweeted.
This comes just days after strong tremors were felt in the Delhi-NCR region and some other northern states on Saturday night after a 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal. Panic-stricken people reportedly rushed out of their homes after feeling the tremors. The National Center for Seismology had said that the epicentre was in Nepal, around 212 km southeast of Joshimath in Uttarakhand.
Last week too, an earthquake jolted Nepal, claiming the lives of six people. Tremors were felt in Delhi and the NCR area then too.
