LinkedIn user recently did an apple-to-apple comparison of the cost of dining in a restaurant and ordering takeaway through Zomato. The customer argued that the food delivery application was charging higher compared to dining-in. However, Zomato responded by saying they do not control prices.

Rahul Kabra, a marketing manager posted on LinkedIn recently the bill of a restaurant in Kandivali, Mumbai and compared the price with that on Zomato. Rahul argued that while the total bill amount at the restaurant for three items was Rs 512, the total amount on Zomato was Rs 689.90 even after applying an offer for Rs 75.

The user argued that there is a need to cap cost escalation. However, Zomato has responded to the post and said it does not control prices.

Replying to the post, Zomato said, “Zomato being an intermediary platform between a customer and restaurant, does not have any control over the prices implemented by the restaurant partners on our platform. That said, we have conveyed your feedback to the restaurant partner and have requested them to look into this.”
