Stepping up the attack on Shiv Sena dissident Eknath Shinde and rebel MLAs supporting him, Sena chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut called them living corpses.

“We have learnt a lesson on whom to trust....These are bodies whose souls have died. Their mind is dead....40 bodies will come from Assam and will be sent directly to the morgue for postmortem," he said while addressing party cadres, in an apparent reference to the number of MLAs camping in Guwahati with Shinde.

He said the present crisis is an opportunity to resurrect Shiv Sena.

Earlier in the day, in a tweet he had asked the rebel MLAs how long will they hide. "How long will you hide in Guwahati, you will have to come to chowpatty," the Sena MP had tweeted in Hindi.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena cadres staged protests against the dissidents in various parts of the state, including Mumbai and Pune.
