Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Monday sought full cooperation of leaders to ensure unity, determination and commitment to the party's accelerated revival. Addressing a Congress Working Committee meeting in Delhi ahead of party's brainstorming session in Rajasthan's Udaipur, Gandhi said there's no magic wand to demonstrate the party's tenacity and resilience.

“There are no magic wands; only discipline, consistent collective purpose to demonstrate our tenacity, resilience," Gandhi said.

Asserting that self-criticism is needed in party forums, the Congress chief said: “But this should not be done in a manner that self-confidence and morale is eroded and an atmosphere of gloom and doom becomes all-pervasive”.

Gandhi reminded the party leaders that the Chintan Shivir should not become a ritual that has to be gone through. “I am determined that it should herald a restructured organisation to meet the many ideological, electoral and managerial challenges we confront,” she said.

The deliberations at the Chintan Shivir will be in six groups—political, economic, social justice, farmers, youth and organisational issues. “On the afternoon of May 15th we will be adopting the Udaipur Nav Sankalp after it has been approved by the CWC there,” Gandhi said.

She also directed the convenors of the six coordination panels to brief the leadership on the broad subjects that have been identified for discussion.
