Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, on Tuesday, slammed MNS chief Raj Thackeray, saying ultimatum politics will not work in Maharashtra.

On Sunday, Raj Thackeray had asked people to play Hanuman Chalisa outside mosques from Wednesday if loudspeakers there were not removed.

Raut said, "It is Uddhav Thackeray's government here. What ultimatum? It doesn't work here. Ultimatum politics will not work in Maharashtra. Only the word of the (Uddhav) Thackeray govt will work here."

Reacting to the FIR lodged against the MNS chief in Aurangabad over his call to silence loudspeakers atop mosques, Raut said such cases are filed across the country. "If somebody gives an instigating speech, if somebody writes something like that, such actions are taken against it. What is the big deal about it?"

Aurangabad police, on Tuesday, registered a case against Thackeray under sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 116 (abetment of offence punishable with imprisonment-if offence be not committed) and 117 (abetting commission of offence by the public or by more than 10 persons) of the IPC and Maharashtra Police Act.

The Sena MP claimed that a conspiracy is being hatched against Maharashtra and said he has information that people from outside the state have been brought in for the same. "State government and police are capable of handling it," he said.
