Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday warned the whole country was facing a power crisis. His statement came hours after the Delhi government said the shortage of coal could threaten operations of the Delhi Metro and hospitals.

Kejriwal tweeted, “There is a huge problem of electricity across the country. Till now in Delhi, we managed in some way. The situation is very serious all over India. Together we all have to find a solution to this soon. There is an urgent need to take concrete steps to deal with this problem.”

Kejriwal shared a news article that claimed 16 states were experiencing power outages that extended for up to 10 hours.

According to reports, two main power plants supplying Delhi—Dadri-II plant and Unchahar plant—have about one or two days of coal stock left. These two plants supply 828MW of electricity to Delhi.
