11 coaches of LTT – Jaynagar Pawan Express derail in Maharashtra

At least 11 coaches of the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) – Jaynagar Pawan Express derailed near Nashik in Maharashtra on Sunday afternoon, leaving two passengers injured.

The incident  took place around 3:10 pm between Lahavit and Devlali in the Bhusaval division, the Central Railway said.

"Two minor injuries in a train derailment in Nashik have been reported and both the injured have been given primary treatment. There is no need for them to be hospitalised and no deaths have been reported in the incident," Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the Central Railway said.

One body has been recovered near the accident spot, but officials said it is not of any passenger and is believed to be there before the accident.

An accident relief train (ART) from Manmad, an accident relief medical equipment train from Bhusaval and a medical van from Igatpuri have rushed to the spot.

The derailment has affected train movements on this route. According to the Railways, seven trains have been cancelled, three have been diverted and two have been short terminated.

Multiple helpline numbers have been issued for passengers. These are 022-22694040 and 022-67455993 at CSMT, 0253-2465816 in Nashik Road, 02582-220167 in Bhusaval and 54173 for the Disaster Management Room.
