The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday charged the Bharatiya Janata Party with conspiring to kill Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after BJP workers protesting against his remarks in connection with the movie The Kashmir Files allegedly indulged in vandalism outside his official residence.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged that the real intent behind the incident was to eliminate Kejriwal. “Delhi Police took the BJP goons to the doorstep of Arvind Kejriwal ji. It happened as a well thought out conspiracy. Since the BJP cannot defeat Arvind Kejriwal ji in an election, it wants to kill him,” he said at a press conference.

Sisodia said the protesters broke CCTV cameras and the security boom barrier outside Kejriwal's house and all of this happened in the presence of police. “The BJP failed to get a single seat in Punjab and the AAP registered a huge victory in the state. The BJP has got unsettled,” he said.

Visuals of the alleged incident show slogan shouting protesters rushing through the boom barrier outside Kejriwal's residence and managing to reach the main gate, which is later shown as splashed with red paint and also bearing red hand prints.

BJP workers led by party MP Tejaswi Surya had gathered outside Kejriwal's residence around 1 pm to protest against his remarks with regard to the Vivek Agnihotri-directed film.

Kejriwal had last week in the Assembly, responding to the demand made by BJP MLAs that the movie be made tax-free, said that Agnihotri should rather post it on YouTube. He had claimed that the BJP and the filmmaker were trying to benefit from the pain of Kashmiri Pandits. Surya told the media during the protest that Kejriwal should apologise to Kashmiri Pandits for “insulting” them.

Kejriwal has clarified his remarks made in the Assembly, saying that for him Kashmiri Pandits are important and not the movie. He said that he and his party colleagues were not laughing at the Kashmiri Pandits but at the BJP.
