The Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday named 21 suspects in its First Information Report filed in connection with the violence in West Bengal's Birbhum, in which eight people were charred to death by a mob. According to reports, the list of accused is same as that of the state police.

The central probe agency also questioned local Trinamool Congress leader Anarul Hossain who is at present in police custody after being arrested from Tarapith. Hossain was arrested hours after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee directed the force to nab the TMC leader in connection with the killings.

The CBI officials are expected to visit a hospital on Sunday to interact with those who were injured in the violence. According to a PTI report, the agency has prepared a list of the villagers to interact with and has requested the administration to find out those who fled the village.

"We will talk to a woman and three others, who were injured in the violence and are now undergoing treatment in a hospital, to get their version. We will also interact with local people in Bogtui village. The Central Forensic Science Laboratory personnel will continue their examinations," a CBI official told the news agency.

The CBI has taken over the probe into the case following the order of the Calcutta High Court.

The charred bodies of six women and two children were recovered on Tuesday in Bogtui after nearly a dozen houses were set ablaze in suspected retribution for the murder of the local TMC-controlled panchayat's upapradhan Bhadu Sheikh.

Meanwhile, West Bengal police recovered crude bombs in Sikandarpur village of Birbhum on Sunday. The bombs were found inside a plastic bag near a football ground
