Reacting to senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad's recent claim that political parties, including his own, divide people on the basis of religion, caste and other things, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said this is only the former's personal view.

Accusing political parties of dividing people, Azad, a member of the dissident G-23 of the Congress, had said on Sunday, "I am not forgiving any party, including mine (the Congress). Civil society should stay together. Justice must be given to everyone, irrespective of their caste, or religion."

No party should politicse religion and caste, Kharge said on Monday.

Kharge claimed that his party does not indulge in politicising religion and caste, and that the claims made by Azad are his personal view.

Azad had also said that Pakistan and militancy were responsible for what happened in Jammu and Kashmir, while commenting on controversy surrounding the movie The Kashmir Files, which chronicles the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. He pointed out that militancy has affected all, including Hindus, Kashmiri Pandits, Kashmiri Muslims, and Dogras.
