Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who was one of the leaders of the G-23 that has been critical of the Congress leadership and demanded organisational overhaul, after the party's deplorable electoral performance in five states, said people who believe in the party are "hurt" by the results.

It is time to reaffirm the idea of India that the Congress has stood for and the positive agenda it offers the nation and to reform our organisational leadership in a manner that will reignite those ideas and inspire the people," he said in a series of tweets.

One thing is clear - Change is unavoidable if we need to succeed, the Congress leader said.

The Thiruvananthapuram MP also took a dig at the BJP over its victory in UP by retweeting a tweet which said it is the victory of "Expressways, Medical colleges, Airports, Highways, Irrigation projects, Metros, Good governance, Awas, Toilets, Ayushman helath cards, Ration, Kissan Samman nidhi, Pension,” saying it is also a victory of “unemployment, inflation and bodies floating down the Ganga thanks to the mismanagement of the second wave of the #Covid pandemic. Also of communal hatred and divisive politics. Let’s not be glib here.”
