Karnataka BJP, on Tuesday, published details of the five minor students who are petitioners in the hijab row case and claimed that the Congress is using these girls to stay relevant in politics.

Taking to Twitter, the state unit of the BJP posted pictures of the details of the petitioners, including their addresses, and asked, “Is this what "ladki hoo lad sakti hoon" means, @priyankagandhi?”

“Five of the students involved in #HijabRow are minors. Don't Congress leaders Sonia, Rahul & Priyanka have any guilt for using minor girls to stay relevant in politics? How low will they stoop to win elections?,” the party asked.

Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi called the tweet "insensitive, sick and pathetic," and asked Twitter to take down the tweet.

"Shameless BJP Karnataka tweets the addresses of the minor girls in order to attack the opposition. Do you realise how insensitive, sick and pathetic this is?" the MP asked in a tweet.

“I request @DgpKarnataka and @TwitterIndia to take action and take down the tweet. Also seek @GoI_MeitY intervention,” she wrote.

The controversy over hijab began in December when a few students started coming to the government pre-university college in Udupi wearing hijab. To protest against this, some Hindu students turned up wearing saffron scarves. The issue spread to other educational institutions in different parts of the state, and the protests took a violent turn at some places, prompting the government to declare three days holiday for the institutions.
