TMC MP intercepts President in Parliament; urges him to call back Guv Dhankhar

Earlier, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had blocked Dhankhar on Twitter

Even as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee blocked Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Twitter, Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay went a step ahead in Parliament.

Bandyopadhyay stopped President Ram Nath Kovind and, with folded hands, requested him to call back the West Bengal governor.

"I urge you, sir. Please call the governor back," he was quoted as saying by a TMC leader.

Banerjee had earlier said that she wrote four letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw Dhankhar.

"I even personally went to Delhi and pleaded with him to withdraw this governor. He is making our lives hell. But the PM paid no heed," the CM said today at the state secretariat.

Dhankhar was, however, unfazed and shot back with another tweet.

“Under Article 167 it is Constitution “duty” of the Chief Minister to furnish such information relating to the administration of the affairs of the State and proposals for legislation as the Governor may call for. Why “block” information to Guv now for two years?”

Dhankhar had asked for information regarding Bengal Global Business Summit and MAA canteen (a pet project of Banerjee, inspired by Jayalalithaa's food-for-all programme), among others.

She alleged that the governor bought food from Taj Bengal.

"I have the bills. Did I ask how he bought food from Taj Bengal?"
