Delhi lifts weekend curfew, restaurants and theatres to open with 50% capacity

Delhi, on Thursday, eased some of the Covid-19 restrictions and lifted the weekend curfew. Restaurants and cinema halls have been allowed to reopen with 50 per cent capacity. Odd-even curbs for markets have also been lifted.

Weddings can be held with a maximum of 200 guests. Schools, however, will remain closed, and night curfew will continue. The decision to ease curbs was taken at a meeting between the Delhi government and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.

The number of daily cases in Delhi has been declining after touching the record high of 28,867 on January 13. The capital had logged 5,760 new cases on Monday and 6,028 cases on Tuesday.

The city saw a positivity rate of 30.6 per cent on January 15, the highest so far in the ongoing wave of the pandemic. The test positivity rate (TPR) dipped to 10.55 per cent on Tuesday.
