Curbs in Delhi: 50% capacity on buses and metro, shops on odd-even basis

Hours after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Tuesday that an yellow alert had been sounded in Delhi due to the rise in COVID cases, the government has issued an order detailing the new curbs.

The order by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority stated:

·        Delhi Metro and buses would operate at 50 per cent of their seating capacity and would not be allowed to have standing passengers.

·        Schools, cinemas, banquet halls and gyms will be shut, while shops selling non-essential goods and malls would be allowed to operate on odd-even basis.

·        Restaurants would be allowed to operate with 50 per cent seating capacity from 8am to 10pm, while bars could be open with similar restrictions from 12pm to 10pm.

·        Private offices are allowed to function with 50 per cent attendance between 9am and 5pm.

·        Sports complexes would be closed to the public though they could host national and international events.

·        A total of 20 people will be allowed for marriage-related gatherings, which will need to be held at home or in court. A similar number would be allowed for funerals.

·        Religious places could be open, but visitors would not be allowed.

·        Business exhibitions will not be allowed.

·        Taxis and autos would be allowed to transport a maximum of two people.

·        Night curfew would be in place from 10pm to 5am.
