Leaders of various opposition parties met at Congress president Sonia Gandhi's 10, Janpath residence in Delhi on Tuesday evening to discuss strategy over the suspension of 12 MPs from Parliament.

Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Rawat, DMK's T.R. Baalu, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah were present at the meeting.

Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge were also part of the meeting.

Reports said though Gandhi had invited DMK president M.K. Stalin and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, both of them chose to send their representatives.

The leaders have decided to ask Pawar to speak with Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu to find a way forward on the issue.

Opposition parties have been protesting the suspension of 12 Rajya Sabha MPs and are holding protests, seeking the revocation of their suspensions.

Earlier in the day, opposition MPs in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha held a protest march from the Gandhi statue in the Parliament complex to Vijay Chowk with Rahul Gandhi alleging that the Opposition is not being allowed to raise issues in Parliament, which is now merely a building and a museum.
