A Youtuber in Tamil Nadu, Maridhas, was arrested on Thursday for controversial remarks on the death of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and 12 others in a chopper crash in Coonoor.

In a tweet, which has now been deleted, Maridhas claimed that Tamil Nadu is “turning into another Kashmir under DMK rule,” insinuating possible foul play in the tragedy.

According to The News Minute, the police shared a screenshot of the tweet by the YouTuber in which he also claimed that the state government gives freedom “to create a group that can do any level of treason against the country” and that any kind of plot can be hatched in the state.

Although the tweet has been deleted, screenshots of the same have been circulating on the social media.

In another tweet, he seemed to suggest that the DMK backs separatist forces and that many DMK supporters mocked the death of an army commander in an accident.

The New Indian Express reported that Maridhas has been booked under  Sections 153 (a), 504, 505 (ii), 505 (i)(b) of the IPC.

Gen Rawat and others were travelling to the Defence Staff College in Wellington from the Indian Air Force base in Sulur near Coimbatore when the Mi-17V5 helicopter of the Indian Air Force crashed near Coonoor.
