Reacting to All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi saying the Modi government is worried about what is happening to women in Afghanistan, but does not see the atrocities and crimes being committed against women India, Union minister Shobha Karandlaje said Owaisi should be sent to Afghanistan.

"It is better to send Owaisi (Asaduddin Owaisi) to Afghanistan to protect their women and their community," news agency ANI quoted Karandlaje as saying.

At an event on Thursday, Owaisi had said, "As per a report, one out of nine female children dies before the age of five in India. There are atrocities and crimes against women here. But, they (Centre) are worried about what is happening to women in Afghanistan. Isn't it happening here?"

The AIMIM had earlier said India should have began dialogue with the Taliban before it gained total control of Afghanistan. "Now that Afghanistan is in complete control of Taliban, we have no communication, no dialogue with them. All international and security experts have said talks should have been done. But, for last seven years, Central government has failed to read what is happening," he was quoted as saying.

Taliban insurgents swept Kabul on Sunday after the US-backed Afghan government collapsed and president Ashraf Ghani fled the country, bringing an unprecedented end to a two-decade campaign in which the US and its allies had tried to transform the war-ravaged nation.
