INDIA/ Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal in Agra was on Thursday vacated after a bomb call, which later turned out to be a hoax, PTI reported citing officials. According to news reports, the CISF was alerted after a man called up their control room saying a bomb was kept at Taj Mahal "which will explode soon".

Following the call, security was immediately beefed up at the historical site and tourists were evacuated. Apparently, the man was disappointed after he was not recruited to the military. There were discrepancies in military recruitment, he alleged.

"The man's location has been traced to Firozabad. Further investigation is underway," said Shiv Ram Yadav, SP (Protocol), Agra.

The monument has been shut and security checks are on in its premises.
