In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy in Amritsar committed suicide after cops, allegedly, planted a condom on him and embarrassed him in front of his father.

The family alleged that after issuing a challan for not wearing a helmet, the cops tried to extract more money and put condoms in his scooter and brought him to his father and embarrassed him. The embarrassed boy, his family said, committed suicide late last night, leaving a note for his father that he was not guilty. The body has been sent for postmortem and police have initiated an inquiry.

“We are looking into the matter and started an inquiry. The truth will be out soon. The note left behind by the boy does not mention any condom but still we are investigating, talking to family and would take culprits to task,” Amritsar Police Commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill told THE WEEK.

According to police, the class 12 student, hanged himself last night in his home. The family claimed that he was pulled up by a cop for not wearing helmet and fined for it.

"He had no money with him to pay the challan, so they brought him to the shop,” his father said. “They told me that they had found condoms in his scooty. I paid them off and scolded my son later. He kept on saying that he had bought no condoms and the police had planted it but I would not listen. I scolded him and thought it was over. He was sad for two days and finally killed himself. They killed my son for some money,” his father said.

The suicide note with a weeping face drawn at the end, allegedly, said: “They (police) are lying papa that it (condom) was mine. I don't know where it came from but you trusted them. Tell me, can I ever do this? I have done no wrong. I am going. Bye bye. My last wish is that you take care of mummy and tell Neeraj didi that her dog is gone and won't come back.”
