Indian Political Action Committee, led by political analyst Prashant Kishor, is running a campaign for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu to provide relief material to the needy people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The primary focus of the ‘Ondrinaivom Vaa’ campaign, according to the DMK, is “to act as a catalyst to bring together the people of Tamil Nadu”.
On the website launched for the campaign, the party said it is committed to reaching out to more than four crore citizens of the state through this multi-format initiative. “We aim to gather and address issues of over 2.5 lakh people, serve 20 lakh meals to the poor, reassure and connect with 10 lakh families, and create a virtual forum of over 10 lakh good Samaritans to help those in need,” it said.
As part of the campaign, the party has launched a helpline to connect people in distress with the office of DMK chief M.K. Stalin.
I-PAC media analyst Shivaji Dubey told a news agency that in nine days 6,70,911 problems have been registered through the helpline. According to him, 45,500 needy people have been given food so far.
Dubey said 10,237 volunteers in the state have got associated with this campaign.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu reported 103 more coronavirus cases, taking the total reported cases in the state to 2,162. Twenty-seven people have so far succumbed to the disease.
