COVID-19: 68-year-old Philippines man passes away in Mumbai

Seven COIVD-19 deaths have been officially reported in India

A 68-year-old Philippines citizen became the most recent casualty of the coronavirus infection in India. He had at first tested positive, and was under treatment at the Kasturba Hospital. He was later shifted to a private hospital, and it was reported that he was close to recovery.

“His was a case of diabetes mellitus, asthma and heart disease, and he was admitted to the Kasturba hospital on March 13. He had developed acute renal failure and respiratory distress,” the Mumbai civic body said.

The total deaths due to the coronavirus infection in India stands at seven. There is no official confirmation yet as to whether the Philippines man’s death will be chalked out to COVID-19.

Most recently, a 63-year-old COVID-19 patient died in Mumbai, in addition to a 38-year-old man who passed away due to kidney failure after testing positive in Bihar. The Mumbai man had been admitted to the H.N. Reliance Hospital on Saturday. The Brihamumbai Municipal Corporation in a statement said the patient had chronic history of diabetes, high blood pressure and ischemic heart disease. He developed acute respiratory distress syndrome leading to his death, the statement said.

The 38-year-old patient in Bihar who passed away was from Munger, and died at the AIIMS in Patna. He had returned from Kolkata two days earlier, ANI reported Prabhat Kumar Singh, director, AIIMS Patna, as saying. The man had a travel history from Qatar, according to hospital officials.
