TADA court frames charges against Yasin Malik, others for murder of IAF personnel

A special court in Jammu on Monday farmed Terrorist and Disruptive Activity (TADA) charges against chief of the banned Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF)
 Yasin Malik and four others in a 30-year-old case of gunning down of IAF personnel on the outskirts of Srinagar.

Malik, however, denied the charges that were emailed to him. The additional sessions TADA judge III, a designated court for hearing the case, had on Saturday said there was enough evidence to frame charges against Malik and others. The accused were produced before the court through video-conferencing as Malik is lodged in Delhi's Tihar Jail in connection with a case registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for alleged terror funding of separatist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

The next hearing has been scheduled for March 30.

In another case against Malik regarding his involvement in the kidnapping of Rubaya Sayyed, daughter of Mufti Muhammad Sayyed, in 1989, will be heard on March 20.

The CBI has requested the court for the fast tracking of the hearing on daily basis.

Malik had joined JKLF in 1989 after the controversial 1987 assembly elections, and later became JKLF chief after the killing of group’s chief Ashfaq Majeed on March 31, 1990.

Malik was charge-sheeted by the CBI before the TADA court in Jammu on August 31, 1990, in connection with the killing of IAF personnel.

He been arrested by the NIA and lodged in Tihar jail for terror funding.
