Every bagh can be Shaheen Bagh, says Chandrashekhar Azad

Azad said he would ask his supporters to vote against the saffron party

Chandrashekhar-Azad Bhim Army Chief Chandrasekhar Azad

Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad, who was granted permission to visit the national capital by a Delhi court on Tuesday, said every bagh (garden) can be Shaheen Bagh. People have been protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act at Shaheen Bagh for more than 35 days.

In an interview to NDTV, Azad claimed that NRC, NPR, CAA are anti-dalit, anti-OBC and anti-tribals. "In the time to come, every bagh can be Shaheen Bagh," he was quoted as saying.

Azad said he would ask his supporters to vote against the saffron party in the upcoming Delhi assembly polls, but clarified that this was not because of any political agenda. He said he is against the BJP as the saffron party is against the Constitution.

He also made his displeasure for the Congress known when he said the party treated dalits like vote bank.

The court had earlier restrained Azad from visiting Delhi for four weeks and directed him not to hold any 'dharna' till the elections in the national capital are over, while granting him bail.

Azad, who was accused of inciting people during an anti-CAA protest at Jama Masjid in Delhi last month, was allowed to visit the national capital for medical reasons and election purposes. The court had asked him to inform Delhi Police of his schedule.

"He can visit Delhi for treatment of his medical condition and election purposes or any other purpose, but he should inform the DCP of Crime Branch about his schedule. He can stay in Delhi at his friend's place at the address given to the court," the court said.

It passed the directions on a plea filed by Azad seeking modification of the conditions imposed on him when the court had granted him bail in a case related to violent protests in old Delhi's Daryaganj area on December 20.
