Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday hit out against Narendra Modi saying the PM single-handedly destroyed the Indian economy. "It is Prime Minister Modi himself and not India's enemies who has destroyed our economy, and he still calls himself a patriot," the former Congress president charged as the party commenced the Bharat Bachao (Save India) rally in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan to protest against the BJP-led Central government's policies.
Rahul also did not spare the BJP for demanding his apology for his 'rape in India' comment that stalled Parliament on the final day of the session on Friday. "My name is Rahul Gandhi, not Rahul Savarkar; I will never apologise for speaking truth and nor will any Congressman do so," Rahul said, adding, "It is Narendra Modi and his assistant Amit Shah who has to apologise to the country for destroying India's economy."
He also called upon people representing country's institutions not to fear. "We will together remove this atmosphere of fear," he said.
Echoing similar views, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi said that the time has come to save the country and "we have to struggle hard for it". "They violate the Constitution everyday and then also celebrate Constitution Day," Sonia charged.

Blaming the government for the economic slowdown, Sonia said, "Small businesses have been destroyed due to wrong policies of Modi government. Such shopkeepers are forced to commit suicide".
