Father of Hyderabad rape-murder victim reacts to Unnao's girl's death

Reacting to the death of the Unnao rape victim who was set ablaze by her alleged rapists, father of the Hyderabad veterinarian who was raped and murdered recently sought strict and speedy punishment for the accused.

According to the news agency ANI, he said, “It is very sad. Justice must be delivered. Strict law should be made and the accused must be hanged at the earliest.”

The Unnao victim's father demanded justice on the lines the Hyderabad case. "I want to see the accused persons being chased and shot dead," he said, adding "I do not want money or any other kind of help. I want to see that the accused are chased and shot dead like the Hyderabad encounter or hanged to death."

"The accused persons had used money power to deny justice to us. My case was not lodged and it was only after the court's directive that it was registered," he said.

The 23-year-old girl was set afire by five men, including two of her alleged rapists, on Thursday morning when she was going to Rae Bareli to attend a court hearing in the rape case filed by her. She died on the day the four accused in the gang-rape and murder case of the veterinary doctor in Hyderabad were killed in an 'encounter' with the Telangana police, triggering a tsunami of reactions across the spectrum—ranging from appreciation to condemnation.
