Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, on Monday, took a swipe at the BJP, calling its leader MLA Bakshish Singh Virk the most honest leader in the party.
He offered this backhanded compliment along with posting a video of Virk—the saffron party's candidate from Haryana' Assandh constituency—in which he is heard saying no matter which button is pressed on the EVMs, the vote will go to the saffron party.
The Congress leader tweeted the video along with the caption, “the most honest man in the BJP,” even as polling was underway in Haryana.
“Whenever you vote, we get to know who you voted for. Don't think we do not know. We deliberately don't tell you. But if we want, we can find out who you vote for, because Modi ji (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) is intelligent. Manohar Lal (Chief Minister Khattar) is intelligent. Whoever you may vote for, it will go to the flower (lotus which is the BJP's election symbol) only. I am telling you this, press any button, the vote will go to the BJP only," Virk is heard saying in the widely circulated video.
According to media reports, the Election Commission (EC) issued a show-cause notice to the MLA. The EC has also appointed a special observer to the constituency.
