The BJP will celebrate the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as seva saptah (service week) to take forward the three issues expounded by him. The week-long programme will be launched on September 14 by Home Minister Amit Shah from AIIMS, Delhi.

The works undertaken by the Modi government will be showcased through exhibitions on the occasion. The exhibitions will also contain information on the prime minister's life and personality so that people get a sense of familiarity with him. Coming before the elections to three states—Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand—the programme is expected to rally people behind Modi and the BJP.

Under the programme, the issues of cleanliness, ban on single-use plastic and water conservation will be taken by the party cadre across the country, BJP general secretary Arun Singh said. The word 'service' has become synonymous with Modi, Singh said, adding that the prime minister has worked for the poor, providing healthcare, houses, and LPG connections.

PM Modi's birthday falls on September 17. The decision to celebrate his birthday as 'seva week' was taken by BJP chief Amit Shah and working president J.P. Nadda. Shah will reach AIIMS on Saturday where he will go to wards and distribute fruits to patients, Singh said.

Under the programme, blood donation, eye camps, reaching out to old age homes, and facilitating free education for physically challenged students through donations will be taken up by the party workers.

The programme will continue till September 20. BJP has also set up a national level committee under Avinash Rai Khanna to oversee the works.
