Priyanka takes a jibe at Modi government over RSS tweet

"I suppose either Modiji and his government no longer respect the RSS's views..."

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday said either Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his dispensation no longer respect RSS's views that all issues should be resolved through "cordial dialogue" or they do not believe there is an "issue" in Jammu and Kashmir.

Refering to an RSS tweet mentioning that all issues in society should be resolved through cordial dialogue to attack the government over its actions in Jammu and Kashmir, Priyanka tweeted, "So the RSS has declared in a tweet that all 'issues in the society' should be resolved through cordial dialogue?"

"I suppose either Modiji and his government no longer respect the RSS's views or they don't believe that there is an 'issue' in Jammu and Kashmir. Interesting... ," Priyanka Gandhi tweeted.

Jammu and Kashmir was placed under an unprecedented security cover and curfew-like restrictions  after the Modi government stripped of its special status and bifurcated the state into two union territories—Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Priyanka's tweet was based on a clarification issued about RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's remarks on reservation.

Speaking at the event in Delhi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's Bhagwat had said that there should be conversation in a "harmonious atmosphere" between those in favour of reservation and those against it.

Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Arun Kumar in a statement said, "Attempts are being made to create unnecessary controversy over some remarks by Mohan Bhagwat in his speech at a programme in Delhi. Highlighting the importance of resolving all issues in the society through cordial dialogue he had called upon everyone to exchange views on a sensitive issue like reservation. As far as RSS is concerned, it has spelled its stand many times that it completely stands for reservation to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs and economically backward."

Political parties including Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party had criticised the Bhagwat's remarks saying that it exposed the "anti-Dalit-backward face" of the RSS and the ruling party.
