The Rajasthan Police filed a chargesheet against Pehlu Khan, who was allegedly lynched by a group of cow vigilantes for transporting cattle in Alwar. The police also named his two sons, Irsad (25) and Arif (22), in the charegsheet. According to media reports, the case against Khan will be closed as he died, but his sons will have to face the charge.

The chargesheet against Khan was prepared on December 30, 13 days after the Congress came to power in Rajasthan. However, reacting to the chargesheet, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the probe was conducted during the previous BJP government and added that re-investigation will be held if there are any discrepancies found in the case. “Investigation of this case was done in the past during BJP government and chargesheet was presented. If any discrepancies will be found in the investigation, case will be re-investigated,” news agency ANI quoted him as saying.
Pehlu Khan and his sons have been charged under 5, 8 and 9 of the Rajasthan Bovine Animal (Prohibition of Slaughter and Regulation of Temporary Migration or Export) Act, 1995 and Rules, 1995.
55-year-old Pehlu Khan, who belonged to Nuh in Haryan, was brutally beaten up by cow vigilantes on Delhi-Alwar highway in Rajasthan on April 1, 2017. The mob accused him of smuggling cattle. He died in a private hospital on April 3.
Reacting to the chargesheet filed against Khan and his sons, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said on Twitter, “Congress in “Power” is replica of BJP ,Muslims of Rajasthan must realise this,reject such individuals/organisations who are brokers of congress party,& start developing their own independent political platform ,70 years is a long time please CHANGE”
