Congress president Rahul Gandhi has once again found himself on the receiving end of Twitter's wrath after he shared the pictures of Army's dog squad to take a sarcastic jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'New India'.

Rahul shared pictures of the dog squad imitating yoga postures done by their trainers on the International Yoga Day on Friday, with the caption 'New India'. Earlier, the official handle of the Defence spokesperson had shared the pictures of the dog unit practising yoga.

Rahul's tweet has triggered a storm on the micro-blogging site with a lot of people accusing him of having insulted the Army and the dog squad.

The Bharatiya Janata Party strongly reacted to Rahul's tweet, saying “life is one continuing joke for him”.

"Perhaps for him, life is one continuing joke for him and looking for opportunities to post pictures that remind him of his favourite Pidi (his pet dog)," said BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli.

He also said while a new India is emerging under Prime Modi, a new Congress is coming up under Gandhi.

Earlier all the defence forces took part in the celebrations of the International Yoga Day at various locations across the country. The Indian Army personnel performed yoga in Siachen—the world's highest battlefield at the altitude of over 20,000 feet—in a temperature as low as minus 50 degree Celsius.

It is the second consecutive day that the Congress chief has hit headlines for the wrong reasons. On Thursday, Rahul was criticised on social media after he was found busy with his mobile phone while President Ram Nath Kovind was addressing a joint session of the Parliament.
