Maharashtra: BJP-Shiv Sena leading; Milind Deora, Urmila Matondkar trail

As per latest trends, the BJP is leading in 23 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, and the Shiv Sena in 19. In the 2014 LS polls, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance brought down the Congress-NCP partnership by winning 41 out of the total 48 seats.

The BJP and the Shiv Sena had overcome bitter differences to together for a seat-sharing pact again for the polls in which the BJP had agreed to contest 25 seats, and the Shiv Sena in the remaining 23.

According to current numbers at 11:25am, Mumbai Congress president Milind Deora is trailing in Mumbai South. Deora is behind BJP's Arvind Ganpat Sawant by 27,387 votes. Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar, Congress's star candidate pitted against BJP's Gopal Shetty in Mumbai North is also trailing by over 56,000 votes. In Baramati, another keenly watched constituency, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule is holding on to the lead against BJP's Kanchan Kool.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was pitted against Congress' Nana Patole in Nagpur, another key constituency.
