Sixty-year-old Jagdish Rai Bhatia sparked onlooker curiosity with his apparent resemblance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Bhatia said he often gets mistaken for the Indian prime minister, noting that "most of the persons, it was very difficult to convince them that I'm not Modi."

The Modi doppelganger also said that every time he is out in public, "people think that Modi is moving around. So they insist on taking selfies."

Bhatia's life reportedly changed once he stopped dying his hair and beard, and they turned almost fully white. Going out on the street without grabbing attention became practically impossible. That period coincided with the time Modi's popularity was peaking, in 2013, when the BJP announced him as prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 general elections.

Beyond sharing apparently similar physical features, the Modi lookalike also expressed support for the prime minister's political agenda and wished him success in the 2019 election.
