Three days after the death of Rohit Shekhar Tiwari, son of late Uttarakhand Chief Minister N.D. Tiwari, the Delhi police on Friday registered a case of murder. The case was transferred to the Crime Branch and an investigation was started after.

The case has been registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code after the postmortem report revealed “unnatural death”.

Rohit was brought dead to Max Hospital at Saket in south Delhi on Tuesday afternoon.

Earlier on Friday, Forensic and Crime Branch teams conducted searches in his house in Defence Colony as part of their probe.

According to report, the police are questioning Rohit’s family members and the investigation has revealed that he was smothered with a pillow.

Rohit had fought and won a long legal battle to prove that he was the biological son of N.D. Tiwari.

N.D.Tiwari died at the age of 93 on October 18, his birthday, last year.

According to Joint Commissioner Delhi Police Devesh Shrivastava, Rohit's mother Ujjwala Tiwari was also admitted to the Max Hospital where she received a call from their home about her son being "unwell and bleeding from nose".

"Max Hospital received an emergency call from the residence of Rohit Shekhar Tiwari at 4:41 pm this afternoon. An ambulance brought Tiwari to Max Hospital, Saket, where he was declared brought dead at the emergency department," the hospital had said in a brief statement.

Rohit Tiwari joined the BJP ahead of the 2017 Uttarakhand assembly polls and recently indicated he could join the Congress.
