Sabarimala: Rahul Easwar detained by police at Pamba

'Save Sabarimala' campaigner Rahul Easwar, who was leading the protests against the Sabarimala verdict, has been detained by the police at Pamba. Rahul's wife Deepa has confirmed the arrest. 

Easwar was at the forefront of protests against the Supreme Court verdict that allowed entry of women of all age groups to the Sabarimala temple. He has been mobilising support from lacks of Ayyappa devotees to spearhead an agitation against the verdict. 

Meanwhile, situation worsened in Sabarimala after protests intensified on Wednesday. Angry protesters are not even sparing women reporters who are at Sabarimala to cover the developments. Three female journalists—one each from The News Minute, News18 and Republic TV—were attacked by protesting devotees at Pamba and Nilakkal. 

Protesters clashed with the police in some areas. Police were seen lathicharging the angry devotees and in certain areas the police have been unable to control the unruly crowd. Meanwhile, a board that stating "no entry for women" has been re-erected in Sabarimala.
