Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag could be in serious trouble after a controversial moment was caught on camera: He was seen vaping inside the dressing room during an ongoing IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings.

As per the Indian Premier League (IPL) disciplinary rules, smoking is strictly prohibited in dressing rooms and stadium premises, except in designated areas. If it has been found that Parag violated IPL’s code of conduct, he could face a fine or further disciplinary action.

What is vaping?

Vaping is an act of inhaling vapor from electronic cigarettes, referred to as e-cigarettes. According to the Cleveland Clinic, an e-cigarette, vape pen or other electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) heats a liquid of nicotine, flavoring, propylene glycol and other additives into an aerosol that an individual inhales through a mouthpiece.

Both vaping and smoking involve inhaling nicotine. While e-cigarettes heat liquid to produce an aerosol, cigarettes burn tobacco, which creates smoke.

It is often assumed by many that vaping is less harmful than smoking. However, both vaping and smoking are harmful, as they both introduce harmful substances to the body. The aerosol that is being inhaled contains particles of nicotine that reach the lungs when used.

The particles you inhale while vaping can cause inflammation (swelling) and irritation in your lungs. This can lead to lung damage like scarring and narrowing of the tubes that bring air in and out of your lungs, Cleveland Clinic mentioned.

Experts also state that some ingredients in e-liquids are known to cause cancer.

The following are the short-term side effects of vaping:
