While you are busy enrolling in Zumba classes, the gym, swimming, and other activities, a fitness trend is taking over people's interest.
Japanese walking, or 3-3 walking workout, is the latest talk of the town. While experts suggest 15 minutes of brisk walking to keep oneself fit and ward off diseases, this workout trend is becoming the favourite for many.
What is Japanese Walking?
As per the Daily Mail, the exercise consists of bursts of slow and fast walking, which increases your heart rate. You need to walk with intensity for three minutes, then slow down for the next three. This is repeated five times, making the workout session last 30 minutes.

Developed by Professor Hiroshi Nose and Associate Professor Shizue Masuki at Japan's Shinshu University, this workout aims to help elderly people get the health benefits experienced by athletes undertaking high-intensity interval training.
Why 3 minutes?
As per media reports, the 3-minute benchmark is when most of the older citizens were found to get tired, as per the researchers.

Experts observed that the participants walking at varying speeds experienced a host of health benefits, including weight loss and lower blood pressure. Thigh strength and physical fitness were also found to be better.
