PUBG (PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds), the hit co-op game that popularised the battle royale genre of games, is getting a live-action adaptation on Netflix.
KRAFTON is a Seoul-headquartered global gaming giant that houses 19 creative studios. According to them, two-time Emmy and Golden Globe winner Donald Glover is set to write, direct, executive produce, and star in the series. Stephen Glover is also set to join as a writer and executive producer.
The Netflix series is also set to be executive produced by Michael Schaefer for NEON TV, Fam Udeorji for Gilga, and Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee for LV3H.
PUBG Mobile was also popular in India till it hit a stray bullet in the blanket Chinese app ban of September 2025, despite KRAFTON being a Korean gaming giant. This was primarly due to Chinese digital giant Tencent Games co-developing, publishing, and distributing PUBG Mobile in India at the time.
The main title PUBG: Battlegrounds is, however, available in India on PC and console.
Subsequently, KRAFTON's India unit introduced its sibling BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) for the country with India and Singapore servers and free of Tencent involvement to adhere to IT regulations. Since then, it has become one of India's mainstay co-op battle royale FPS games.
Given India’s tethered restrictions to PUBG's mobile version, we are yet to see how the gamers in the country will approach the live-action series.
