The latest Nani-starrer action thriller, The Paradise, which is set to hit the theatres on September 24, has already generated a major buzz with its advance booking collection and an ‘A’ certificate.
The film is directed by Srikanth Odela, who had previously collaborated with Nani on Dasara.
The Paradise is set in the slums of 1980s Secunderabad and follows a marginalised community facing discrimination, which has left them fighting for their basic rights. The film also stars Raghav Juyal, Kayadu Lohar, Mohan Babu, Sonali Kulkarni and Sampoornesh Babu. Keerthy Suresh is also set to make a special appearance.
The film has received an ‘A’ certificate from CBFC, reportedly factoring in its high-intensity action and violence. Nani, speaking at a press conference in Mumbai, said that the film contains drama, emotion and love, alongside violence. He added that the violence in the film is not merely included for the sake of it, and that the film was made for an ‘A’ certification.
The Paradise has recorded a strong advance booking collection ahead of its release. According to Sacnilk, the film has collected ₹18.49 crore in India for Day 1, including block seats, with 8.67 lakh tickets sold across 6,837 shows currently. Hyderabad alone collected ₹7.26 crore, with the Telugu version accounting for the majority of the Day 1 gross collection.
The film also gained attention through legal developments. A Bengaluru court recently issued an interim order that restrains the circulation of allegedly false and defamatory content regarding The Paradise. Nani said that the order was aimed at material that is generated by AI and bots, and not genuine movie reviews. The court’s order followed claims that such content could cause financial and reputational harm to its makers.
